L'evento
The loop follows paved and unpaved sections through fields and vineyard-covered hills, with views and striking autumn colours.
We continue towards lavender fields, particularly scenic during the June–July flowering season, and reach the Romanesque Pieve di Santa Maria in Viguzzolo, dating to the 11th century.
Archive records name it Sancta Maria in ripa padi, referring to its position beside the channel flowing from the Curone through the village, now covered over.
The church preserves a mid-16th-century wooden crucifix from the Piedmontese-Lombard school. Recently restored, it has a movable head turning on a wooden pin in the neck, originally hidden by real hair and a beard.
We finish the loop with a tasting at Cascina Montagnola winery, subject to availability.
Around 9 km; 200 m elevation gain; Italian difficulty grade T.
