The Nivione–Varzi Badlands Loop starts and finishes in the picturesque medieval village of Varzi. Walk through dramatic clay formations sculpted by erosion into an almost lunar landscape.
The route alternates shady woodland and open sections with views over the Staffora Valley and the badland ridges. Along the way, visit the historic partisan's house, a symbol of the Resistance, and pass through Nivione before returning to Varzi.
An experience combining nature, history and memorable views.
Wear technical hiking clothing in layers suited to the weather forecast. Bring a spare T-shirt and shoes, as requested in the Italian programme in connection with African swine fever measures, waterproof clothing for unexpected rain, water and personal essentials.
Event membership and organisation contribution: €20.
